Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 December: Warm words in the winter air
You can enjoy a hot chocolate drink, delicious cake and fun activities for children in a winter wonderland full of warmth and light. Have your photo taken with Olaf the snowman. Decorate your own bauble. Make a lovely drawing.
We’ll take you on an adventure with Sturdy Steffie in the winter garden. An exciting story in which Steffie pays a visit to Vincent van Gogh. Younger children can listen to Miffy’s adventures inside the museum.
Tuesday 23 December 2025 is the day the Mad Science professors come to visit. They’ll get to work with lots of colours, just like Vincent van Gogh did. Can you make a rainbow in a test tube?
Tuesday 30 December 2025 is when we organise a ‘Play with Light’ workshop, developed with ASML. You make your own drawing which you reduce in size and put on a slide. You can project your drawing anywhere you like using a projector and the flashlight on your phone.
Want to take part? Then come along to the Van Gogh Village Museum between 12:30 and 16:30 and find yourself a place. Entry is free and you don’t need to reserve in advance. It might be busy so you may have to wait until you can start. You can always visit the museum during that time, make a drawing or do a puzzle. See you then!

Young visitors can discover the museum using the ‘In search of Vincent’ discovery trail. It can be used by children from the youngest to the upper years of primary education: anyone can go on a voyage of discovery. The booklet contains colouring sheets and spaces to make their own pictures. When they have finished, the young guests will receive a nice certificate. They can take their certificate and discovery trail booklet home with them, including their own masterpieces of course!
The ‘In search of Vincent’ discovery trail is free and available at the entrance in English, Dutch, French and German.
The ‘In search of Vincent’ discovery trail is extra fun when combined with the special audio tour for children. Children can listen to conversations between Vincent and his brother Theo, and get to know more about the life of the world-famous painter in an easy to understand way.
Young people can learn about the museum about and Vincent van Gogh’s life in a playful way thanks to our activities for children. We are frequently told how enthusiastic the children are about the discovery trail and the children’s audio tour. That makes our museum completely kidsproof!
Tip! Thanks to our collaboration with ASML children under the age of 18 can visit the museum for free. Also on a school visit!
• The scanning points for the children’s audio tour are positioned at children’s eyesight level.
• Children are enthusiastic about the discovery trail and about the certificate
• Vincent’s Lightlab is a great hit with our youngest guests!
• We always have a good supply of coloured pencils.
• Puzzles are available on the table in the coffee bar.
Special amenities are provided in the toilets for the youngest children.
